Advent in Montessori: Teaching Patience and Reflection
Our son is in his second year at Waterfront Academy, where he's flourished socially and takes great joy in the 'works' and activities that are part of the Montessori approach, which I've seen firsthand during school visits. While there was some adjustment in the first year to the bilingual education, the teachers did an exceptional job launching his school journey. We couldn't be happier with the progress he's made in his Spanish language skills, critical thinking, independence, and even reading at age 4.

Our son has thrived and flourished at Waterfront Academy. He was enrolled at the school from the time he was 2.5 years old, and we believe that having had the Montessori experience at that early age gave him a strong foundation as a learner, contributing to his being a confident, enthusiastic, and self-directed learner. After experimenting with other learning environments and methodologies for a couple of years, we have "boomeranged" back to Waterfront Academy. Waterfront Academy values him as an individual with his own learning style. He has the space to nourish his creativity, while at the same time thriving in an academically challenging environment. We also love the close, caring, and peaceful environment that the students and teachers create. Since he has been back at Waterfront Academy, he leaves home every day happy to go to school. We are confident that he is getting a strong foundation for his future academic achievements.

Our 4-year-old has been there one year, and the year has been absolutely transformative for him. At four and a half years old, he is reading and writing short words, and he happily runs into the courtyard every morning to greet his friends and teachers. His Spanish language skills are continuing to grow and develop because much the classroom work is conducted in Spanish.
