Waterfront Academy Holds a Very Sacramental Spring (with a May Crowning too!)

Three Waterfront Academy elementary aged students received their sacraments this spring and the school celebrated Mary with their second annual May Crowning on May 5th.

Eighth grader Kai Paul received her sacraments—Baptism, Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation—at the Easter Vigil at her home church, Mt. Calvary Catholic Church in Forestville, MD. Waterfront Academy President Melissa Rohan was both Kai’s sponsor and godparent.

Douglas Dowe received his Reconciliation and First Communion at Blessed Sacrament Church in NW D.C. Classmate Finn Slattery also received the sacraments of First Communion and Reconciliation at St. Dominic’s Church in SW D.C.

St. Dominic’s was also the site of the second annual Waterfront Academy May Crowning on May 5th. May Crownings are traditional Catholic rituals that honor Mary. A crown of flowers is typically placed on a statue of Mary, honoring the fifth mystery of the rosary—The Coronation of Mary as the Queen of Heaven and Earth.
