Middle School Won Grant Money from Earth Force

Middle School submitted two proposals to Earth Force's Caring for Our Watersheds Competition, "What can we do to improve our watershed?"

From Earth Force, "For the first 40 entries in the contest, participating schools receive $250 for each classroom entry. In addition, ten finalists will receive case awards for the students. All participants are encouraged to implement their ideas in local watersheds. It is important for students to know their ideas have value and to have support when turning theoretical ideas into realistic solutions."

One proposal was for a recycling program upgrade and the other was for homemade hand soap to replace the store-bought soap to reduce the amount of chemicals entering the watershed.

The middle school class won a participation award and will decide in the Fall how they would like to use the grant money.
