In 2014 I am looking forward to opening a school. I believe we may have found a location. If all goes well Waterfront Academy can open in the next few months - in time for offering a summer camp and a solid recruitment season for a 2014-2015 school year. Once open, at a minimum we will continue to provide the Mamá y Yo classes at this new location as well as add Primary and Lower Elementary classrooms.
All said, I know that I would not be able to look forward to an exciting 2014 without the many blessing and prayers that happened in 2013. Thank you to all for your prayers and support.
Special thanks go to Jaynie Lilley for encouraging me to make Mamá y Yo class happen; to Rebeca Shackleford for being a wonderful person and a passionate Montessori Directoress; to Father Andrew Royals of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for spiritual guidance; to Telma Zambrana for religious education consultations on Catechisis of the Good Shepherd; to the schools like Christian Family Montessori and Siena Academy for allowing me to observe and answering my many questions; to all the families that came to one or more classes; to the Southwest Waterfront, Navy Yard, and Capitol Hill communities for all your support; to the Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital for providing beautiful classroom space; to the team of professionals that see the vision for Waterfront Academy and are working hard to make it a reality; and to my wonderful husband for all the love and support on this wild ride of starting a school.
